According to Jim Ross, of The Ross Report,
“word on the street” is UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones is open to working in the WWE against Universal Champion Brock Lesnar if the sports entertainment company shows an interest.
This obviously comes after weeks of rumors of a potential match up between the two. These rumors seemed to have been confirmed by Jones publicly calling out Lesnar at UFC 214. Brock subsequently responded to the challenge online and then stated on Raw that if he loses his match at Summerslam, he would leave the WWE. Many took this to mean he would lose the fatal four way at Summerslam and then take a hiatus from WWE to fight in the UFC in December. That would throw a major monkey wrench in WWE’s plans as they are building to a Wrestlemania main event between Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar for the WWE Universal Title.
Compounding that, is the fact that Lesnar is under contract with WWE until just before Wrestlemania. They are not too keen with Lesnar having a shoot fight with Jones for the mere fact that if he loses it would damage his credibility heading into Wrestlemania.
WWE then published an article today publicizing the feud as a potential WWE match to the WWE fan base. This lead to a whole new round of speculation that the UFC champion could be appearing against Lesnar in the WWE. Couple this with the fact that Cyborg challenged Becky Lynch to a Summerslam match and Becky Lynch responded.

What does all this mean? Well, as it looks to me; when you take Ross’s statements in conjunction with the activity from the principles, it’s clear that the relationship between the UFC and WWE is better than ever. At the end of the day, if we don’t get these matches it won’t be from a lack of trying on WWE’s part. It’s clear that WWE, Brock Lesnar, Jon Jones and Chris Cyborg are all very interested in working together. The question remains though, is the UFC?
