Despite reports stating that Jinder Mahal will face Kevin Owens for the WWE Championship in India, this will not translate to any kind of storyline on television. Both Owens and Mahal will continue to be firmly be positioned as heels. Mahal will simply be playing a babyface in India.
After representing SmackDown at Survivor Series and avoiding a title defence on that particular PPV, Mahal will be moving on to AJ Styles. This is why we saw Styles relieved of his US Championship.
On the house shows, Mahal will be defending his title against Nakamura or in Fatal 4 Way matches against Nakamura, Rusev and Randy Orton. This will continue until the WWE begin the Mahal vs Styles program on television.
