So WWE TLC 2017 has come and gone, and boy was it dissapointing. It looks like the most powerful tag team in the company are Viruses and Poor Booking.
Opening Match, Asuka vs. Emma
WWE really dropped the ball here. Instead of debuting Asuka as an unstoppable force and squashing Emma, the WWE instead decided to have a competitive match between the two, with Emma geting over half the offense. Emma was booked way to strong here and the match went way too long, close to 9 minutes. Asuka did end up getting the win via submission but this booking was a DISASTER. If this is the way Asuka is going to be booked then they’ve already ruined the character.
Winner: Asuka via Submission with the Asuka Lock
Cruiserweight Tag Match, Alexander & Swann vs Kendrick & Gallagher
The cruiserweights have a fairly standard tag match. Nothing special nothing horrible, this match was a houseshow level match. I personally can’t get past the fact that Jack Gallagher wrestles in dress shoes, slacks, a tie, and vest. It looks ridiculous.
Winner: Swann and Alexander via pinfall after Alexander hits Kendrick with Lumbar Check
Women’s Championship Match, Alexa Bliss (c) vs Mickie James
Another house show level match. There were some very noticeable botches during this match. After the match Mickie starts a speech that sounds like a retirement until she says she’s coming back to win the title sometime in the future.
Winner: Alexa Bliss via Pinfall with a DDT
Cruiserweight Championship Match: Kalisto (c) vs Enzo
Enzo comes out gives his prematch monologue and is cheered. Kalisto does Sin Cara’s entrance from 2011 to his old Lucha Dragons music. What’s clear here is that Kalisto is totally dead as a character. After the match Enzo gives a speech clearly inspired by Conor McGregor.
Winner: Enzo Amore via pinfall after a rake to the eyes.
AJ Styles vs The Demon
This was a WrestleMania level match wasted on a B PPV with no build. The match was excellent, but there was no heat since there was no story. It was just two excellent wrestlers having a match for the sake of having a match. It’s too bad that WWE decided to do this here. This was clearly the best match on the card.
Winner: The Demon via pinfall with a drop kick to the corner and Coup de Grace
Elias vs Jason Jordan
I bet WWE is really happy they decided to do the Jason Jordan is Angle’s son angle over the summer. This match was a complete dud.
Winner: Jordan via pinfall with a roll up on an apparently “bad call”
Main Event: Miz, Sheamus, Cesaro, Braun Strowman, and Kane vs. Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins, and Kurt Angle
The match starts with the faces hitting the heels with dozens of chair shots. After the barage of chairs the heels come back and gain control. Strowman powerslams Angle through a table and Angle is taken away by medical personal. Kane accidentally hits Strowman with a chair which starts the unraveling of the heels. Eventually Kane chokeslams Strowman through the stage and drops about 20 chairs on his head. Strowman recovers and the entire heel team attacks him, puts him in the back of a garbage truck and commits a homocide by crushing him in the trash compactor. Angle makes his return and the faces isolate the Miz. Rollins hits Miz with a flying knee, Ambrose hits Dirty Deeds, and Angle hits the Angle Slam and scores the 1,2,3.
