Major Possible Shakeup Could Cause UFC/WWE to Lose TV Deals

According to bizjournals.com could be changing their TV partner in 2019 when their current TV rights deal ends.

The article explains a lot of this actually has to do with the UFC and their partnership with News Corp’s, Fox Sports 1. UFC is reportedly going to ask for a MAJOR increase in their TV rights deal. UFC is currently receiving $120 million a year for the TV rights, they are expected to be looking for a number closer to $450 a year when they renegotiate. Fox is apparently looking to pay no more than $200 million. If the two companies can’t negotiate a deal that both sides can live with, it is expected that UFC would be headed to another network. This is where the WWE comes in. WWE is currently making around $180 a year from NBC universal, the company that owns USA Network. If Fox Sports One does lose UFC it would reportedly look at WWE as a suitable replacement.

Executives George Barrios and Paul “Triple H” Levesque have already met with executives at Fox, Disney, CBS, and Amazon about the possibility for moving their TV shows to one of those networks. NBC has the right of first negotiation up until the spring of 2018.
