With the focus firmly on Raw 25 on Monday, the WWE held a second creative meeting on Tuesday to discuss plans for the Royal Rumble and the road to WrestleMania.
Our source has exclusively informed us, (before you see it stolen by the various sources who steal our work), that the WWE are deeply concerned that the Roman Reigns steroid scandal could escalate further, and given the disastrous Enzo Amore scandal, which has over-shadowed a very poor Raw 25 show, the WWE are now desperate to avoid any more negative press, especially surrounding a guy they want to coronate on the biggest show of the year.
The current plan is 100% to STILL do Lesnar vs Reigns for the WWE Universal Championship. However, the WWE are now discussing doing Ronda Rousey vs Charlotte Flair on the same night, so that if there is any media scandal, they can immediately start marketing Rousey vs Charlotte and Undertaker vs Cena, as the two main matches on the card, heavily lessening the focus on the Lesnar vs Reigns match. They may even make the match a triple threat, to water down the focus even more.
The original plan was to give Rousey a reasonably light start, and to either put her into a Mixed Tag match against Stephanie McMahon and Triple H, with Braun Strowman as her partner, or to book her in a quick singles squash match against Stephanie. The WWE planned to save Rousey vs Charlotte to historically headline SummerSlam 2018, in Brooklyn, which would have made the match the first EVER woman’s match to headline a Big 4 PPV. It could now potentially headline WrestleMania, the grandest stage of them all, if any further negative information arises about Roman Reigns.
Given the WWE’s concerns, it’s now very possible that the WWE will pull the trigger with Ronda Rousey this Sunday, and have her win the first ever women’s Royal Rumble match- instead of Asuka, who has been pencilled in to win the match for several months.
If Rousey is given the nod, which will be finalised in tomorrow afternoon’s production meeting, the WrestleMania 34 card will look like this:
Universal Title Match-
Brock Lesnar vs Roman Reigns
WWE Title Match-
AJ Styles vs Shinsuke Nakamura
The Undertaker vs John Cena
SmackDown Women’s Championship Match-
Charlotte Flair vs Ronda Rousey
Triple H vs Braun Strowman
Raw Women’s Championship Match-
Alexa Bliss vs Asuka
If the WWE decide to not go with Rousey, the card we originally revealed will still be the direction. For those of you who missed the story, you can view our archives section or watch the YouTube video, posted below:
